Paleoclimate history of the Polar Regions
Today most of us associate polar region with snow, ice sheets and temperatures well below the freezing point. What most of us do not know is that this has not always been that way. In my talk I demonstrate the development of polar ice sheets during the paleoclimate history constructed by fossils as well as by polar ice cores. What secrets can be discovered inside ice cores by taking a closer look at them? Here I present the fascinating climate history of the Arctic and the Antarctic over a time period of 38 million years. Here I will teach the audience how to reveal the hidden message of the ice.
