R&D Management Advanced Workshop "Integrating knowledge - Challenges for R&D management"

The challenges for R&D management of integrating knowledge are significant. They are exacerbated
by the changes which are induced by a globalizing economy. The workshop will assemble expert information
and opinions, provide in-depth discussion and propose further actions for management
teams and research. It will be designed for a compact number of academic researchers and experienced
R&D management practitioners. It will connect to other workshops being organised in 2008 and
to future themed issues of R&D Management. The workshop will integrate three themes:

1. project organization and knowledge integration: developing capabilities for successful execution of R&D projects. Innovative organization structures, processes and integration mechanisms
2. co-locating versus off-shoring R&D and industrialization: knowledge integration in dense or dispersed settings
3. opening-up for innovation: technology alliances for the generation and integration of new knowledge

The workshop will: generate ideas and plans for collaborative networking; define practitioner needs;
identify future research projects; suggest publication strategies. The detailed programme will be developed
interactively. Presentations should advance the strategic purpose of the workshop and stimulate
discussion. If you are interested to participate then please: (a) submit an abstract to describe conceptual
or empirical analysis, including case-studies, about knowledge integration in R&D; (b) express
your interest in a particular topic or approach to use within the workshop (e.g. expert panel discussion,
roadmapping, poster display, virtual forum).
